The Mudejar Tour from Spanish Thyme Traveller

New Tour from the company that offers active cultural holidays

You might have been to Spain, but have you been to the city of Teruel with its famous Mudejar architecture? Have you discovered the region’s wild mountains and picturesque villages?

The Spanish Thyme Traveller is launching a brand new tour for 2013 to show people this little visited region and discover its architecture, gastronomy and wildlife.

Teruel is a wild and mountainous area but has some of the most beautiful villages and scenery in Spain. This tour is three nights (four days) and you’ll visit (and sleep) in places that are rich in culture and history.

Besides being the capital of the province Teruel is a historical city which is packed with beautiful buildings and great food. The famous story of the Lovers of Teruel and their mausoleum is captivating. You’ll also visit Albarracin (currently proposed as UNESCO World Heritage Site) and its fascinating cave paintings, plus the village of Rubielos de Mora. Both are small but unique; boasting old palaces, churches and unique food. This mountain area is an ideal summer vacation as it is slightly cooler.

You’ll stay in independently owned hotels and eat mountain food that’s typical of the local area. The Spanish Jamon is excellent as well as the local lamb. There will also be a chance to try local cheese and sausages.

The Spanish Thyme Traveller is run by local husband and wife team Patrick (British) and Julia (Spanish) who have lived and worked in the area for the last 20 years. Their passion is Spain and its lifestyle. They have travelled extensively throughout Spain, discovering hidden villages, regional food, and all types of wine. Their local knowledge of Teruel and the surrounding areas is excellent; an accumulation of years of living, walking, eating and visiting in the region.  Together they have created a tour that is genuinely Spanish and allows you to meet and get to know the locals.

This tour is ideal for people who want to learn about the region while they experience the culture, the people and the food.
